Manager Marketing Analytics

Purpose & Scope:

The Sr. Marketing Analytics Manager is responsible for developing advanced models to measure the effectiveness of key selling and marketing tactics, performing promotional response and ROI analyses, and constructing marketing mix models to optimize the allocation of promotional dollars across marketing tactics.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide actionable insights to Marketing and Sales on spend and tactic mix.
  • Participates in cross functional team environments and handles a variety of concurrent projects including promotion response/ROI analyses, ad hoc analytic projects and pilot evaluations.
  • Develops and recommends promotional improvements (i.e., targeting, logistics, vendors, etc.) and suggests alternatives to better utilize resources.
  • Conducts statistical analysis activities to estimate the impact of the promotion on sales or other measures of performance and compares the promotion impact to the cost of the investment.
  • Utilizes statistical software tools to assess key drivers of impact using well-constructed and accurate computer models, as well as, accurate and applicable data sources. Contributes to the advancement of Decision Science modeling.
  • Prioritizes work based on the needs of brand teams, organizes the description of the promotions to be evaluated, develops analysis plans and the research designs for estimating promotion impact, conducts analysis and presents the results to Marketing and Sales management.

Quantitative Dimensions:

  • Keep outsourcing of ROI analyses to less than $250,000 except when there are large gains from business development.
  • Provide recommendations to improve marketing and sales spend within brands by 10% unless spend is less than 15% of brand revenue.
  • Success and profitability of implemented recommendations.

Organizational Context:

  • Reports to Assistant Director, Marketing Analytics. This position requires close collaboration with Marketing and Sales leaders.

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 7 years of work experience
  • Minimum of 5-7 years statistical analysis and research design experience, and 3 years statistical modeling experience.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees including senior management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficient SAS, SQL, and/or R.
  • Working knowledge of BI tools such as QlikView and/or Tableau.
  • Experienced in various statistical modeling techniques and their application within complex analytical projects desired (e.g., regression modeling, promotion response modeling, ROI, marketing mix, etc.).
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to details, and the ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent organizational, planning and project management skills and ability to effectively manage cross-functional projects.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic fast paced environment, with minimal supervision.

Preferred:

  • M.S. in Statistics or Economics or other quantitative discipline is preferred, or MBA with Marketing Analytics/Decision Science Concentration.
  • Working experience with promotion response curves, return on investment analyses and resource allocation applications are highly preferred.
  • Experience using patient-level data.
  • Experience in a consulting firm.
  • Working knowledge of sales data sources, i.e., Quintiles IMS and Source Healthcare Analytics
